What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
Deal emails and price alerts
When you sign up for deal emails, event emails or a price alert, we store your email address, what you signed up for (categories, events, products and target prices), when you signed up and confirmed, and a one-way hash of your IP address as a record of your consent. We send nothing until you confirm by clicking the link in our confirmation email; if you do not confirm, we delete the sign-up 7 days after that email.
We send our emails through Resend (resend.com), which receives your email address and the content of each email in order to deliver it. We do not add you to any list at Resend and we do not sell or share your address with anyone else, including Amazon. Our emails link only to luktat.com.
Every email has an unsubscribe link, which works with one click. When you unsubscribe we stop all emails to you and switch off your price alerts. We keep your sign-up record (address, choices and consent record) marked as unsubscribed, so we do not email you again and can show what you had agreed to. You can ask us to export or delete all of this data at any time. To ask for an export or deletion, email support@luktat.com.
We keep a log of the emails we sent you (type, subject, date and delivery status) for 180 days.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use LUKTAT, for example which pages are read most and which deals people look at, so we can improve the site. We do not use it for advertising.
What is collected. When you visit a page, Google Analytics records information such as the page you viewed, the site you came from, the time of your visit, how you interact with the page (for example scrolling and clicks on links to other sites), your browser, device type, operating system, screen size and language, and an approximate location (country and city) derived from your IP address. Google Analytics does not log or store your IP address. We do not send your name, email address or other information that identifies you to Google Analytics.
Cookies. Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on your device: _ga and _ga_5XRHBDPG95. They hold a random identifier so that repeat visits can be counted, and they expire after up to two years.
Google as our processor. Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited (for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) and Google LLC (for visitors elsewhere). Google processes this information on our behalf under Google’s data processing terms, which we have accepted, and the data may be transferred to and stored in the United States. We have turned off all of Google Analytics’ data sharing settings, so this data is not shared with Google for other Google products and services, benchmarking or support. Google Analytics keeps event and user data for 14 months; the period starts again when the same visitor returns. Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
How to opt out. You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings, or by using a browser or extension that blocks tracking. LUKTAT works the same without these cookies.
Jetpack Stats. We also use Jetpack Stats, provided by Automattic Inc. as part of the Jetpack plugin, to count page views and see which pages are popular. It records page views together with technical information such as your IP address, browser, the page you viewed, the referring page and the time, and sends it to Automattic, whose servers may be in the United States. Jetpack’s WooCommerce Analytics feature, which records how visitors browse the shop pages, sets the cookies tk_ai, tk_lr and tk_or (up to about 13 months) and tk_r3d (3 days). Automattic’s privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/
Where your visit came from. WooCommerce, the shop software LUKTAT runs on, sets cookies whose names start with sbjs_. They record where your visit came from (for example a search engine, another website or a campaign link), the page you arrived on, how many pages you have viewed and your browser type. They last only until you close your browser (sbjs_session ends after 30 minutes without activity). They are read only by our own site and are not sent to anyone else; WooCommerce would save this information only with an order placed on luktat.com itself, and purchases are made on the retailers’ sites.
Links to Amazon (Amazon Associates)
LUKTAT is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, LUKTAT earns from qualifying purchases.
Most “Get deal” buttons link to the product on amazon.com, with LUKTAT’s Associates code in the link. When you follow one, you leave LUKTAT and Amazon’s Privacy Notice applies (https://www.amazon.com/privacy). Amazon uses its own cookies and similar technologies on amazon.com, among other things to recognize that you came from LUKTAT and to credit us for qualifying purchases. Amazon gives us reports of clicks, items ordered and earnings that do not identify you. LUKTAT does not send Amazon your name, email address or any other personal data.
When you click a “Get deal” button, your browser also tells LUKTAT which product was clicked, so we can count clicks per product and day. To count each visitor only once per product and day, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address (it cannot be turned back into the address) for 24 hours. No cookie is set, and the daily counts contain no personal data.
Links through PartnerBoost
For some products, the “Get deal” button uses a link from PartnerBoost (partnerboost.com), an affiliate network that works with brands selling on Amazon. For those products the brand pays LUKTAT a commission through PartnerBoost instead of Amazon Associates. Such a link first opens a short page on PartnerBoost’s site (app.partnerboost.com), which forwards you at once to the product on amazon.com. On the way:
- PartnerBoost receives the request from your browser, including your IP address, your browser type and the LUKTAT page you came from, and records the click.
- PartnerBoost sets its own cookies on partnerboost.com, for example to record the click and remember your language; some last up to a year. These are PartnerBoost’s cookies, not LUKTAT’s; you can block or delete them in your browser settings.
- The Amazon link that PartnerBoost forwards you to carries Amazon Attribution codes, which Amazon uses to report to the brand which purchases followed clicks on that link. These reports are used to calculate commissions. They cover clicks and purchases (for example how many purchases followed a click and their value), not your name or email address.
LUKTAT does not send PartnerBoost or the brands your name, email address or any other information about you. PartnerBoost’s privacy policy: https://www.partnerboost.com/privacy-policy/. Amazon’s Privacy Notice: https://www.amazon.com/privacy.
Who we share your data with
Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) and Jetpack (Automattic Inc.) receive information about your visits as described under “Analytics”.
When you follow a PartnerBoost link, PartnerBoost receives your IP address, browser type and the LUKTAT page you came from, and sets its cookies, as described under “Links through PartnerBoost”.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
